Statutory Assessment

As a state primary school, Greenholm takes part in all statutory national assessments set by the Department for Education. Alongside these, we use our own regular assessment approach throughout the year to understand how children are learning and to make sure teaching, support, and challenge are right for each pupil.

Understanding how children are assessed can help you feel informed and confident in supporting their learning. Below you’ll find links to the Department for Education’s official guides on primary assessments, including early years, phonics, multiplication checks and Key Stage 2 tests. Each leaflet explains what the assessments involve and what they mean for your child. At Greenholm, we use these national assessments together with what we see in the classroom every day to build a clear picture of each child’s progress and plan their next steps. Please explore the links to learn more about each stage of the process.
