Teacher Training Scheme

Greenholm has an excellent reputation for high-quality teacher training within a friendly and supportive environment. 100% of our trainees have employment straight after training either in our school or other local schools. We pride ourselves on our high levels of teacher retention within the school and within the profession and believe the training we offer supports teachers in developing all the skills needed to be outstanding practitioners.  This is an excellent opportunity to acquire practical teaching experience under the guidance of highly skilled and dedicated professionals. The program offers tailor-made opportunities to develop teaching skills within a wide range of settings. The career development for all staff at Greenholm is recognized with the Investors in People Award which we have held for fifteen years and were the first school in Birmingham to be accredited. We are offering a one-year training placement starting in September 2019 through the Schools Direct program in collaboration with BCU  and Services for Education,  successful completion leads to qualified teacher status. As a trainee of the program, you would be based for the majority of the year in our school and be assigned a mentor who will support you in developing your skills and knowledge to become an outstanding trainee. In addition to in-school development, you will attend the center and partner school-based training one or two days a week to build upon your school experience.

You will have the opportunity to observe outstanding practice in our own and other partner schools, and benefit from the expert guidance and mentoring from our staff. You will also have a course tutor who will support you through half-termly visits and observations. As you pass through the year your teaching load will gradually build and you will undertake a second school placement to broaden your experience.

If you want on-the-job training, and experience from day one of being immersed in school life, then this is the initial teacher training program for you.

We are running two programs with 2 different providers.
