Year 1 Newsletter
Year 1 Summer Term Newsletter
Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed your break. Here is some information about what will be happening in the Summer term.
This term we have 2 topics. The first topic is about the Great Fire of London, which will have a history focus linked to significant people and events. The second topic is plants where the focus will be on naming the parts of a plant and tree.
P.E will continue to take place on a Wednesday. Please ensure that all children have the correct kit which is clearly labelled with your child’s name. If your child does not have the correct kit they will be unable to take part. P.E kits need to remain in school and will be sent home at half term to be washed.
Children do not need to bring any more than 60p for toast. Please make sure they bring it in a purse or wallet with their name on it.
Please ensure that children come to school in the correct uniform, including shoes. We would like to ask you to make sure that ALL uniform (and coats) are clearly labelled with your child’s name to avoid any mix ups or children losing their belongings.
Just a reminder that school starts at 8.45am and the register must be completed by 8:55am. Any child that arrives after the register has been completed will be marked as late. It is important that the children arrive on time as they have an activity to complete as soon as they come into the classroom and they will miss some important aspects of their learning.
All children have a designated day for their homework. Please ensure that you know which day your child’s homework is due and that it is completed on time. We would also like to remind you that unless there is a comment in the home links book their reading book will not be changed.
Year one Phonics tests will be taking place next half term. Teachers will be sending home activities that will continue to support your child within this area of learning.
A reminder that we cannot let any child go home with anyone that we have not be informed of. If someone else is picking up your child, you need to inform the teacher or the school office.
If you have any concerns or require additional information about your child please do not hesitate to ask the staff.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to continuing to work with you and your child.
