Year 4  Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to Year 4!

The theme for this term will be ‘CHOCOLATE’ which we will link to history and the Aztecs as well as Science and states of matter.

Music – We will continue with cornet, clarinet and cello lessons. These lessons take place on a Monday afternoon so please support your child in remembering to bring in their instrument.

PE –PE is on a Thursday and Friday.  Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit; Greenholm PE t-shirt, dark shorts or dark tracksuit bottoms, and suitable footwear (trainers for outdoor PE).

In literacy we will be writing a range of genres including newspapers, information texts, settings in imaginary worlds and poetry. The literacy units will be linked to our chocolate theme and states of matter in science. During literacy we will also practise basic skills including handwriting, spelling and grammar.

In numeracy, we will be learning about time, shape and space, and data handling. We will also continue to consolidate written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  It is important that by the end of year 4 children know ALL of the multiplication tables and division bonds to 12 x 12, so please help support your child by practising at home.

Homework will be handed out on Fridays to be returned on Wednesdays. Please support your child in completing all of their homework and handing it in on time.

Attendance and lateness alert!

Good attendance is 96% and above. Good attendance will help your child make progress so that they can fulfil their full potential within school.

Please ensure that your child comes into school on time (8.45 am), so that they do not miss out on any of their learning.

We look forward to a productive and enjoyable last term. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
